Summary[]
When all physical assaults fail against the new Venus probe, Steve succeeds in tricking it into falling into a pit. However, when it starts drilling towards a city, Steve has a bigger problem than before.
Deconstructed[]
Quotes[]
Oscar Goldman: "What have you got, Rudy?"
Rudy Wells: "I've scrounged enough of the same alloy to make a battering ram. It'll be just as tough as the skin on that Probe. Unless I miss my guess we'll have greater power on our side."
Oscar:"Now, we'll see what happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object."
Steve: Oscar, let's get some digging equipment over here to this old excavation site.
Oscar: To do what?
Steve: Widen it, set it up like an elephant trap. You put the probe in here.
Oscar: Ok, but what good does it do?
Steve: Rudy found the alloy of the probe weakened in a hydrochloric acid bath. If I can get it into that pit it gets a bath.
Steve: Well, I'm not really superstitious. [Crosses his fingers]
Oscar: Superstitious? You're superstitious? After all these years I find out that you're superstitious?! How could you claim to such a primitive notion? [Shakes his head, walks away with his fingers crossed also]
Trivia[]
- Due to a time slot change for the series, the next episode aired the following evening.
Gaffes[]
- Somehow in less then 10 minutes, the soldiers are able to dig a massive ditch deep enough for the probe to fall in with only small shovels. All the dirt from the hole mysteriously vanishes too.
- It is very convenient that a helicopter capable of lifting the death probe just happens to be only a few miles away.
- For most of the helicopter scene the footage is oddly blurry and poor quality.
- In less then an hour somehow a tanker is filled with hydrochloric acid, driven all the way out to the desert, a very deep pit is dug and reinforced, and the pit is filled with acid.
