Bill Elgin nitpick[]
The article currently views this as a nitpick:
- When Jaime Sommers is talking to Bill Elgin on the phone, she tells him not to worry about her. He then tells her that it's a habit, since they have been doing it since Jaime was twelve. However, Jim and Helen Elgin did not become Jaime's legal guardians until the death of her parents when she was sixteen.
Personally, I don't think it's an error, because Bill doesn't speak at all to when Jim and Helen became legal guardians — just to the point where the Elgins started looking over her. It makes sense to me that there would have been a substantial period of time before the death of her parents where they were close to Jaime. Four years certainly seems like an appropriate length of time for them to have developed a strong relationship that would have formed the basis of their being her legal guardians.
Far from being a nitpick, this seems to be an attempt at adding to the "Ojai backstory". I normally would just change this thing, but I'm a li'l gunshy in this case cause I read it so differently than the original editor. Anyone else have thoughts? CzechOut ☎ | ✍ 20:56, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
