Yeager may have made a cameo appearance, as the voice of the tower controller at Maffin Air Base who converses with Michael Austin on his graduation day test flight.

Rationale for gaffe deletion[]

I just deleted one "gaffe" item which was a somewhat detailed account of why Michael's ability to run 300 MPH should be impossible. We can't call that a gaffe. The entire concept of the franchise relies on some element of disbelief, and frankly that's the same as adding as a gaffe "it's impossible for anyone to jump 30 feet into the air". Of course it's impossible, that's why these shows are what they are. And as it is, Martin Caidin himself, in The Bionic Book, states that it's impossible for humans to tolerate running 60 MPH anyway, bionic limbs or no, but this has to be ignored for the sake of the franchise (same as ignoring the impossibility of going faster than light in almost every SF movie ever made). A discussion about the real-life impossibility of a human tolerating such speed (wind resistance, etc), if it's really necessary, would be better placed in the discussion of the 1973 pilot film, or the original novel. 68.146.64.9 15:50, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
