Talk: The Rescue of Athena One (novel)

Question about Apollo capsule

I was reading somewhere on a defunct online forum that this book replaces the rescue Apollo capsule Stev Austin flies to Skylab with him and Dr Wells flying the Space Shuttle on it's maiden voyage. Can someone who has this book verify whether or not this is true Hpkreator103 (talk) 22:19, July 17, 2020 (UTC)

I found the post, which was saved in my notes: "And I seem to remember a later novel, based on a TV episode and not by Caidin, had him flying the Space Shuttle on its maiden voyage to rescue a female astronaut stranded aboard Skylab." If the plot isn't the same, it's pretty similar. Could this be it? Hpkreator103 (talk)

The books are notorious for changing details. I would not be surprised if the book took liberties with this. I have not read it. I recommend that you find the book on eBay or Amazon reseller, read it, and then clarify for us all here at the wiki. — Paul (talk) 14:58, July 19, 2020 (UTC)

Hi - I still haven't gotten it yet,but I have had it verified (from space author Francis French,as reputable a source as any) via the Space Hipsters Facebook group that it does feature the Shuttle,pressed into service early as an emergency measure Hpkreator103 (talk) 00:53, August 18, 2020 (UTC)
