Ted Cassidy was a 6'9" tall film and television actor who took over the role of Bigfoot from André the Giant, playing the part in a total of three episodes in both The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman.
He is best known for playing Lurch in the 1960s sitcom The Addams Family (at one point Cassidy, in character as Lurch, even had a hit record with 1965's "The Lurch"). He also played Ruk in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" In the 1970s, his baritone voice was often utilized for TV cartoon series. Starting in 1978, Cassidy provided both the opening narration and the Hulk's own growls for Kenneth Johnson's The Incredible Hulk live-action series.
He died in 1979, but his recorded growls as the Hulk continued to be used in the TV series well after his death.
